Jeanne Quesnel Ellsworth

November 25, 1946 ~ July 22, 2021 (age 74) 74 Years Old

Obituary

On July 22, 2021, Jeanne Margaret (McGovern) Quesnel Ellsworth of Corpus Chrisit, Texas, was chosen to join family amongst the angels at the age of 74. Born on November 25, 1946, to James and Madeleine (Ballard) McGovern in Springfield, Massachusetts, Jeanne was raised in New England, but followed her husband, Wilfred Quesnel, in the decision to move the family south in an old school bus turned R.V. in search of greater economic opportunities. Trading snowy roads for sandy shores, the two became a team like no other. Wilfred’s helpmate in every capacity, Jeanne, worked side-by-side with her husband not only in raising their three boys but in operating their successful, family business which led to the founding of their own company, Sand Dollar Construction, established in the early 90s in Flour Bluff, Texas. Working together for nearly 30 years, this talented duo constructed and re-modeled buildings throughout the South Texas area including the Diocese of Corpus Christi and the First Baptist Church on Ocean Drive. Committed until death do them part, the couple remarkably remained happily married through life’s challenges for 44 years until Willy’s untimely departure in 2008.

Upon the death of her great love, Jeanne miraculously found true love a second time when she reconnected through fate and social media at the age of 68 with a family friend and high school sweetheart from back home in Springfield, MA. She and Dale Ellsworth were married on July 11, 2015, and have relished the past six years together in “The Bluff” shooting at the range, basking on the beach, savoring food at local eateries, and unwinding at their neighborhood pub among friends.

Jeanne was a loving wife and mother of three, grandmother of eight, and great grandmother of 11. She enjoyed fishing and shooting, combing the beach for shells to add to her numerous collections, recounting stories from her day… or other people’s, nursing and adopting animals, and spending time with her family. Described by her sons as the “glue” that kept them all together, Jeanne will always be remembered for her devotion to family as well as the good-humored, creative, and industrious woman that she was.

Jeanne Margaret (McGovern) Quesnel Ellsworth is preceded in death by her late husband, Wilfred Quesnel, and her mother and father, James and Madeleine (Ballard) McGovern.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Dale Ellsworth, and her sons and daughters-in-love, James (Norma) Quesnel of Houston, Thomas (Elizabeth) Quesnel of Fort Worth, and Jason (Ana Maria) Quesnel of Corpus Christi. She will also be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Jack (Jill), Patrick (Amber), Kassi (Hugo), Shelby (Jet), Zachary (Christi), Briana (Ryan), Josiah, and Lilliana as well as her great-grandchildren Riley, Benjamin, Chase, Graham, Blake, Skylar, Nahomi, Mekah, Cheyenne, Maddison, and Weston. Jeanne will also be dearly missed by Whoopie and Long Neck, her beloved cats whom she adopted and adored until she took her last breath.

A Memorial Service in celebration of Jeanne’s life and the wonderous legacy that she has left behind will be held at Seaside Memorial in the Seaside Chapel on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at 2:00 o’clock in the afternoon. Live streaming is available for our loved ones that cannot attend in person. Rather than interment, at her request, Jeanne’s ashes will be spread at the beach by her immediate family at a private gathering.

In lieu of flowers, it is asked that donations be made to The Cattery Cat Shelter or the Gulf Coast Humane Society, both charities that support Jeanne’s love of animals.
