Obituary

Jesse David Alvarez, age 62, passed away June 26, 2022. He was born on January 6, 1960 to Gilberto Alvarez and Teresa Cruz Alvarez in San Antonio, Texas. Jesse graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1979.

He served in the United States Navy for two tours, from 1981 to 1987 and 1989 to 1991. In his time of service, he served as a plane captain and later as a United States Navy firefighter. He received the Good Conduct Medal, M-14 Rifle Marksman Ribbon, and the Overseas Service Ribbon.

Jesse married his wife of 25 years and partner of 30 years, Mary J. Alvarez on June 28, 1997. He was employed by Corpus Christi Army Depot and retired as an Industrial Engineer. Jesse was a loving father, son, brother, uncle and cousin. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with family, watching and playing sports, dancing and listening to music. Jesse will always be remembered for his service to his country, his ability to be the life of the party, hosting gatherings for his family and close friends; his service as a father figure and mentor for countless of friends and family, his sense of humor and laughter, his dedication to family, his decades of long devotion to his wife Mary, his deep love for his children, nieces and nephews, his faith, daily mass and rosary ministry, his green thumb, prolific garden and his love for the San Antonio Spurs.

Jesse is preceded in death his parents, Mr. Gilberto Alvarez and Mrs. Teresa Cruz Alvarez and his two loving sisters, Mrs. Ramona Ochoa and Mrs. Irma Nuncio.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Mary J. Alvarez, his children, Jeremy David Alvarez and JeanEva Danielle Alvarez, his brother, Gilberto Alvarez Jr., and his sisters Olga Alvarez, Mary Lou Ruelas, Cecilia Galan, Margaret Dominguez, Alicia Booth and Elsie Rodriguez.

Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 9:00pm on Monday, July 4, 2022 at Seaside Funeral Home followed by a Rosary at 7:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at St. Phillip the Apostle Catholic Church, 3513 Cimmaron Blvd, Corpus Christi, Texas, 78414. Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.

Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers are Jesse A. Villarreal, Alex Ochoa, Joseph Nuncio, Charles Cervantes, Andrea Morales, Derrick Ceballos, Adrien Ochoa. Having the distinguished honor to serve as honorary pallbearers are David Castano and Alvin Villarreal.
