Jimmie Villarreal

Jimmie C. Villarreal, age 96, went to be with our Lord on March 29, 2021, with his family by his side. Jimmie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-great grandfather and loved his family unconditionally.

He lived his long life with strong family values and a passionate love for his country. He served in WWII for the United State Marine Corp and received the Purple Heart Honor in 1946. Shortly thereafter married his next-door neighbor sweetheart Maria, attended Del Mar College, and graduated with an Electronics Technician Degree. He began working at the Naval Air Station and continued his education at Texas A&M University College Station where he received a certificate for teaching Aircraft Instruments. Jimmie continued his education at DeVry University in Chicago and graduated with an Electronics Degree. During the span of 37 years, he worked as a Civil Servant for the Navy, Army, and the Federal Aviation Agency. He attended several Department of Defense schools and received many letters of commendations and appreciation certificates. One of his best achievements included receiving an I.G. (Inspector General) award from the Department of Defense from Washington, D.C.

Jimmie was admired by everyone he met but mainly his life was characterized by his love of music. Any remark made at any given moment would likely encourage a song for him to sing out loud. Always happy, he was often heard whistling while he worked. He and his wife would dance every chance they had. His family was greatly touched and influenced by this. He was born November 1924 to Pablo and Lucinda Villarreal. After 70 years of marriage, he leaves behind his wife, Maria “Dora” and 6 children, Elizabeth Hinson, Debra Hamaker (Bruce), Vivian Hooper (Isaac), Arlene Minar (Doug), James Villarreal (Lisa), Darrell Villarreal;8 grandchildren;17 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. the same evening. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with a Veterans burial ceremony beginning at 2:30 p.m. at Seaside Memorial Park.
