Jose A. Garza

Joe Garza, 75, passed away on August 12, 2018. He was born on July 23, 1943 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Jose Z. Garza and Manuela Garza. He graduated from William Adams High School in Alice, Texas and Texas A&I University, Kingsville, Texas. He was married to Rosaena Garza on June 8, 1968, and they recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Joe retired from the Social Security Administration and after retirement worked with Butch Escobedo Insurance, until fully retiring to focus on his family, friends and Church.
Joe was a devoted and beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He enjoyed playing golf, crossword puzzles, poker night with his buddies, and spending time with treasured friends. Above all, his greatest joy was his family, especially his five grandchildren, with whom he spent every possible moment. He will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws, Raul and Beatrice Gutierrez. He is survived by his wife, his children AnaLisa Lawhon, Joe A. Garza Jr. (Patricia), and Marcella Garza (Christian); grandchildren, Zane Lawhon, Caity Lawhon, Camryn, Kacie and Camille Garza. He is also survived by his brothers Abelardo (Thelma) Garza and Alberto (Arminda) Garza; sisters-in-law Norma (Fred) San Miguel and Diana Fernandez and several nieces and nephews.
A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, August 16 at 9:30 a.m., St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, immediately followed by a Funeral Mass. Entombment will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Philip the Apostle Funeral Ministry.
