Joe G. Garcia, Jr., aka Grizzly, Grandpa, Papa, or HEB Joe, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021 at the age of age 68. He was born to Jose E. and Aurora Garcia in March of 1952 in Sinton, TX and raised in Corpus Christi, TX. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. Joe was a lifelong commercial truck driver and drove for H-E-B for the last 27 years. He was a Hall of Fame driver in 2005 for a million consecutive safe miles and became a Legend in 2015 for 2 million miles.

Joe will be celebrated as a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He enjoyed bargain hunting and refurbishing anything and everything. He was pleased to participate in fundraising for various causes and lending a hand wherever needed. Joe will always be remembered for his love of his family, a good conversation, kindness and generosity.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Jose E. and Aurora Garcia; sisters, Angelina "Angie" Gonzalez and Maria Victoria Garcia; brother, Pablo Garcia; and most beloved wife of 43 years, Alice C. Garcia.

He is survived by his three daughters, Denise (Shane) Frey, Elaine (Rey) Rivera, Erin Nicole Garcia; grandchildren, Ryan Matthew Rivera, Kiara Rose Frey, Jacob Aidan Rivera; siblings, Blas (Rosalva) Garcia and Belinda Garcia; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family; special friends, include his fellow neighbors, Main Drive childhood neighbors, HEB partners, and the crew at Denny's SPID. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 2021 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary to be held at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, then Interment with full military honors to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Shane Frey, Rey Rivera, Jr., Blas Garcia, Estevan Gonzalez, Jerry Casillas, Ruben "Tornado" Cortez, Dudley "Stallion" Diaz, and Luevester "Fireman" Eichelberger.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren Ryan Matthew, Kiara Rose and Jacob Aidan.
