Joy C McNair

Joy Cardwell McNair was born on January 30, 1925 in Stephenville, Texas. Joy was her name and joy was her life. She graduated from Floydada High School and attended Texas Tech University before earning her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Texas A&M University - Kingsville.  She worked for the Social Security Administration for a number of years after her graduation. She married William T. McNair on June 14, 1947 and last year they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. 
Joy had a zest for life. She loved traveling with Bill, fashion, art, entertaining, golf, and raising her two beloved children, Mark and Leah.  She was a long-time member of St. John’s Methodist Church. Joy was a long-time volunteer at the church and active in the Lantana Gardening Club. 
She is survived by her husband, Bill; her son, Mark McNair of McLean, Va.; three grandchildren, Meghan Baxter of Charlotte, N.C., Will McNair of Columbus, Ohio, and Grant Glenewinkel, of Ft. Lauderdale; and three great-grandchildren, Harper, Aria and Beau Baxter. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Jim Young, and her daughter, Leah McNair Glenewinkel.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11 am Monday April 16 at  St. John’s United Methodist Church. Interment will be private at Seaside Memorial Park.
