Obituary

Billie Kaye Pierce Mills passed away Monday, January 24th at 12am. Kaye was born on the 21st day of September, 1939. She was the only child to William and Theodosha Pierce. She graduated Central High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She then moved to the Corpus Christi area where she raised her family.
While in Corpus Christi she was a long time member of the Clara Driscoll Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. In 2013 she moved to San Antonio, Texas where she joined the Alamo Mission Chapter of the DRT. She also served for many years as an officer with the Burleson Family Association.

She was a loving and loyal daughter, mother, grandmother, friend and proud Texan. She was a talented artist, she could sew anything, and later became an accomplished quilter. She was most proud of her faith, her heritage, her children and grandchildren. All who knew her were touched by her love and kindness. Her loss to her family and friends cannot be described in words and she will be deeply missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Royal B. Mills, and her son, Dwayne Freeman.

She is survived by her long time companion, Clarence Neal, her previous husband, Jerry Stokes, her children, Mark Freeman, David Stokes and wife Cindy, Bruce Stokes and wife Robin Stokes, Priscilla Voisinet and husband Robert Voisinet, grandchildren, Jack Freeman, Rosie Freeman, Dwayne Freeman, Wendy Ripley, Josh Stokes, Amanda Stokes, Shelly Garcia, Andrea Stokes, Robbie Voisinet, Isaac Voisinet and 9 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Seaside Funeral Home on Thursday, January 27 at 6:00 pm to 8:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 28 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church, Portland Texas with internment to follow at Seaside Cemetery. A small reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Kaye’s name to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
