Obituary

Kevin Duane Sharp passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at his home with his family at his side. Kevin was born to Jerry and Betty Sharp on February 19, 1963. He was a life-long resident of Corpus Christi. Kevin was a husband of 41 years having married his high school sweetheart, Lilly Carvajal Sharp in 1980. She was his rock.
Kevin was a hard-worker. He started working as an electrician’s helper at age 17, progressing to Journeyman, and earning his Master’s License. He became Co-Owner/President of Rabalais, I&E. Kevin helped many people in their career path along the way. And with just a hand shake made many customers a friend.
Kevin loved people! (and everyone loved Kevin) He loved his family. He was devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren, family, and friends. Starting when his children were young he coached youth baseball, never missed a football game, attended many twirling events, and continued with his grandchildren’s activities. Kevin spent this last summer spending time with Emma and Trout (Makai) making many memories eating out, fishing, golfing, and traveling.
Kevin never met a stranger and treated everyone as a friend. He loved to entertain and barbecue for the masses. His home was always filled with family and friends. Fishing was his passion, with hunting second. He and Lilly fished and hunted in Texas, Alaska, Cabo, Argentina, Florida, Louisiana, Belize, Costa Rica. He also loved collecting antique Bingo Lures.
Kevin and Lilly organized a Skeet Shooting Team. It represented Rabalais I&E – then upon Kevin’s retirement, it became the ReelSharps Shooting Team. It is recognized throughout South Texas as exemplary. Both Kevin and Lilly were active members of the team.
Kevin supported many children’s school organizations such as 4-H and FFA. His overflowing generosity was always recognized. He and Lilly were closely involved with Driscoll Children’s Hospital, Wounded Warriors, and CCPD.
Kevin is preceded in death by grandparents Frank and Evelyn Sralla of Alice, Chauncey and Gladys Jones of Beeville, and in-laws Heriberto and Emma Carvajal of Corpus Christi.
