Obituary

Kitty Gauntt of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away January 10, 2021. She was born on April 22,1932, to Harvey and Trudie McCulley in Tulia, Texas. She later moved to Athens, Texas, graduating from Athens High School and later marrying Robert Gauntt. They remained married until his death in 2015.

While raising three children, Kitty went back to college and received a teaching degree from Texas A&I University in Kingsville. She was an exceptional teacher of Journalism and English for CCISD until her retirement. She influenced hundreds of teenagers throughout her long teaching career and received the honor of being named Teacher of the Year. She was also a very talented seamstress and contributed many hours working with the Nutcracker Ballet repairing costumes and crowns for the annual ballet. Kitty made it her life’s mission to always praise others and never missed a moment to tell others how special and valued they were. She was a longstanding member of the First Baptist Church in Corpus Christi.

Kitty is preceded in death by her husband, RL Gauntt. She is survived by her three children, Randy (Katherine) Gauntt, Patricia (Michael) Smith, Robin (Robert) Willms; her grandchildren, Bryan (Sarah) Gauntt, Nathan (Megan) Gauntt, Robert (Tasha) Gauntt, Elizabeth (Cameron) Marr, Matthew Smith, and Emily Willms; great grandchildren, Emma and Allison Gauntt, Caleb and Abby Marr, Leo Gauntt, Faryn Gauntt, and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11:30 A.M., Thursday, January 14, 2021, at Seaside Memorial Park in Corpus Christi, Texas.
