Kitty Lee Renfro

Kitty Lee Renfro, 91, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2018. She was born on June 23, 1927 to Will and Susan East in St. Petersburg, Florida, but was raised in the Bluegrass of Kentucky in Williamsburg where she graduated from Williamsburg High School and Cumberland College. It was in the first grade of Williamsburg Elementary School that she met the love of her life, Norman L. Renfro MD, and married him on June 11, 1950. They were married for 51 years until her Norm went to heaven on August 4, 2001.
Kitty Lee was a devoted wife, and loving mother to three children: Norman Leonard Renfro of San Antonio, Texas (Cindy), Sandra Renfro White of Paris, Kentucky, and Leigh Renfro Gray (Gary) of Corpus Christi, Texas. She simply adored her eight grandchildren: Clare Tinsley Kuehl (Aaron), Major Norman Lannon Renfro (Catherine), Luke Ryan Renfro (Meghan), Susanna Lee White, Hannah Katherine Gray, Simon Daniel White, Adrienne Clare Gray and Lauren Leigh Gray. She was also honored by becoming a great grandmother of eight children.
Kitty Lee is preceded in death by her brother, Bill East of Sacramento, California, and is survived by her sister, Grace East Gallagher, of Cincinnati, Ohio. She cherished Grace and her children Regina Gallagher, John Gallagher, Michael Gallagher and Kevin Gallagher, all of Cincinnati, Ohio. Her brother Bill had no children.
Kitty Lee left the hills of Kentucky to follow her husband after medical school at the University of Louisville to Texas where they settled in Corpus Christi in 1960. She loved the hot Texas weather, and all it offered with year round tennis, walking and flower gardening. Kitty Lee enjoyed a wonderful life with Norman as members of the South Texas Club of Internists and the Women’s Medical Auxiliary. She was a gracious Southern lady, and hosted many people throughout her life at her home on Ocean Drive until she moved to Mirador Retirement Community where she continued to entertain the caring staff and many visitors to her apartment. Her dog, Sandy Girl, was a faithful companion and became the Mirador Mascot.

A celebration of the life of Kitty Lee Renfro will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 4, in Seaside Funeral Home Chapel, 4357 Ocean Drive, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Her service will be officiated by her daughter, Pastor Sandra Renfro White, and pallbearers will include Major Norman Renfro, Luke Renfro, Daniel White, Aaron Kuehl, John White and C.B. Slabaugh. A brief Interment will follow at the grave site beside her beloved, Norman Renfro MD.
