Lafon W. Denney, Jr., age 89, passed away July 27, 2020. He was born September 4, 1930 to Lafon and Elnora Denney in Corpus Christi, Texas, where he was raised and graduated from Calallen High School in 1948. He then went on to enlist in the United States Air Force, dedicating 4 years to the service. While serving he earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal for all his efforts.
Lafon married his wife Charlene Denney, of 16 years, on May 22, 2004. He was employed as the Safety Director at Weaver Industrial Services, INC. and Coastal Refinery. Lafon Denney was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.
Lafon enjoyed daily Bible reading, gardening and caring for his dogs and cats. He will always be remembered for his love of laughter, devotion to family, his love of the Bible, and telling lifetime stories. Lafon’s favorite loving expression when remembering others was saying, “Lord, Bless his/her heart.”
Lafon is preceded in death by his mother, father, sister Peggy, and his first wife Helen. Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife Charlene Denney, his granddaughter Nila Lynn, and many extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Seaside Funeral Home, 4357 Ocean Dr. Corpus Christi, Texas. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2020 in the Seaside Funeral Home Chapel, with Interment to follow at 2:30 p.m. at Seaside Memorial Park. Services officiated by Dr. Rod Carver of Calvary Chapel of the Coastlands.
