Lem Andrew (L.A.) Burnside, age 83, was born January 8, 1935 in Quinlan, Texas to Lem Andrew Burnside, Sr. and Mary W. Burnside.
L.A. passed away peacefully to his Heavenly home on Monday, December 3, 2018 at home with his wife by his side.
He began working for HEB Grocery Company in 1950 and was promoted to Manager of the Robstown location within 5 years. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1957 and upon discharge he returned to the HEB Robstown store. He was then called back into the U.S. Army for a short time. He continued to work in other HEB locations from Harlingen, Portland to lastly the Northwest store. L.A. worked for HEB Grocery Company for 46 ½ years until his retirement in 1996. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, driving his motorhome to various Casinos from Texas to Florida and going to Vegas.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Norma Thiem Burnside, his son, Clifford Craig (Stephanie) Burnside, seven grandchildren, Sydni M. (Drake) Gibson, Tyler R. Burnside, Jordan C. Burnside (Ben Freel), Lane Burnside, Caitlin E. (Miles) Fabian, Taylor K. Burnside and Kelsey M. Lange. Also two great grandchildren Abigail Lynn Gibson and Timber Andrew Freel. He was preceded in death by his children Janet Lynn (Carl) Lange and Lem A “Tracey” (Kathy) Burnside, both parents Lem A. Burnside, Sr. and Mary W. Burnside, two sisters Helen Smith and Dorothy Green.
A Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 9th, 2018 at Seaside Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 10, 2018 at Seaside Reid Chapel. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
