Obituary

Leroy Acevedo Gamez passed away August 30, 2020. He was born on September 22, 1967 in McAllen, Texas to Dalia and Esequiel Gamez.

Leroy was a dedicated and hardworking employee at BHI Wind & Energy where he maintained and climbed the giant wind turbines you may see around the United States. The greatest enjoyment of his job were the friends that became family and the ability it gave him to travel with his wife of thirteen years, Laura M. Sanchez-Gamez. They traveled the United States together for over the last decade.

He was the youngest of nine siblings, he shared his life with his twin and best friend, Rosie Gamez Pecson.

In February 2019 he was diagnosed with stage IV Lung Cancer. He continued to work despite his diagnosis. He remained strong and resilient throughout these past few months.

Leroy was a devoted husband, step-father, brother and friend. He was loved and looked up to by so many. Whose lives he had touched. He loved the life he created with his wife and lived life to the absolute fullest. He loved his career, going to car shows, listening to old Spanish music, classic rock music and barbecuing with his family and friends.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Laura M. Sanchez-Gamez, step-son, Justin A. Sanchez (U.S. Air Force),sisters, Olga Vargas, Mary Jane Vargas, Lydia Lopez, Evangelina Reyes, Mary Ellen Salinas, Mary Lou Botello and twin sister, Rosie Pecson, brothers, George Santos and Hector Gamez, in-laws and many nieces and nephews. He is received in heaven by his mother, father and grandfather-in-law.

Leroy will be missed by so many.
