Lois Popp Rather was born on November 19, 1921 in Lufkin, Texas to John P and Johnnie N Popp. She passed away after a short illness on November 11, 2017 at the age of 95. She loved God, her family and friends.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, John P and Johnnie N Popp, her sisters Betty Hurta and Hazel Tanner and brother James (Sonny) Popp.

Lois is survived by her husband of 76 years, Robert D Rather; her children:
Gary N Rather, Robert N Rather (Ginny) and Johnny Rather (Susan); Grand Children: Arron Nickens (Laia), Suzanne Rather Chapa (Izzy), John R Rather, Alexandra Rather and Great Grandson: Issac Chapa; brother and sisters: Claire Navarre, Carolyn Stegall and Don Ray Popp.; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. Charles Breeling and Dr Paul Heath and their staff for the comfort, care and compassion they provided for our mother.


Visitation will be held Monday, November 13, 2017 at Seaside Funeral Home from 6:00 PM – 9:00PM.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Reid Chapel.
