Obituary

Louise Kaspar Mokry, age 93, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2018. She was born on January 15, 1925 to Frank and Frances (Urbanek) Kaspar in the small farming community of Polonka, near Taylor, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Edward R. Mokry, her parents, sister Bertha Kubicek and brothers Frank, Elick, Ben, Joe, Chris and Mike.

In 1944, she moved to Corpus Christi with her cousin Betty to pursue prospects of employment. Due to her sewing skills, Louise secured a seamstress job at a local dress shop. A short time later she went to work as a cashier at Naval Air Station-Corpus Christi.

In 1947, she met Edward Mokry, and they were married on June 2, 1948, at Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. Both she and Edward were charter members of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, and Most Precious Blood Catholic Church.

She was a farmer’s wife, homemaker, avid gardener, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was proud of her Czech heritage and was a devoted member of Catholic Family Fraternal of Texas (KJZT) Society #46 St. Veronica. She loved to play dominoes. The family always looked forward to her baked goods, especially her apple strudel & kolaches.

She is survived by her four children, Ed (Nasa) Mokry, Bernie Mokry, Larry (Jonna) Mokry, and Beverly (James) Holman. Grandchildren, Melodie (Seth) Vise of San Antonio, Jessica (Toby) Robertson of Robstown, Jake (Lauren) Martini of Corpus Christi, Madison and Morgan Mokry of Corpus Christi, and Kim Brunkenhoefer (Bob Kubala) of Corpus Christi. Great –grandchildren, Ryland and Avelyn Vise, Luke Martini, Emily and Logan Brunkenhoefer.

In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to be made to your favorite charity.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Serenity and Grace Hospice Care, especially Tiffany, Joe, John and LaToya. Special thanks go out to Maria Sears for her love and tender care of our Mom during her last days.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 am on Monday, March 26 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jake Martini, Seth Vise, Toby Robertson, Brian Scholz, Raymond Polasek, and Richard Polasek. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Mokry, Ted Kallus, Ruben Tamez, Mark Henson, James Nemec, and David Lemmon.
