Lydia T. Alaniz, age 60, passed away May 13, 2019. She was born on October 29, 1958, to Roque and Hortencia “Tess” Torres in Robstown, Texas. She was raised in Robstown, Texas, and graduated from Robstown High School in 1977. She married her husband, Jose C. Alaniz Jr., of 28 years on February 2, 1991. Lydia Alaniz was employed by GTE, CCISD School District, Coldwell Banker and Keller Williams Real Estate Agencies, and was lastly employed as a health care provider. Lydia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Lydia Alaniz enjoyed crafting, gathering with her life group from church, gardening, and spending time with her children. She will always be remembered for her faith in God, her love of laughter, sense of humor, her devotion to her family, her love and pride for her children, and her strength and friendship.
Lydia Alaniz is preceded in death by her mother, Hortencia “Tess” Torres, brother Rogelio Torres, father-in-Law Jose Casas Alaniz Sr., and nephews Jeremy Lopez, and Max Buitron. Lydia is survived by her husband Joe C. Alaniz Jr., her son Abel Aaron Benavides [Stefanie Marie Sanchez], her daughter Lanie Alaniz-Villarreal [Joseph Villarreal], and daughter Kailey Tess Alaniz; her grandchildren John Michael Martinez, Jacob Anthony Martinez, Amarie Angel Lugo, and Abigail Rae Benavides; her father Roque Torres and her mother-in-law Rosa Alaniz; her sisters Elizabeth Buitron, Susan Garza [Raul Garza], Cynthia Chavez [Tony], Christina Lupper Hood, and brother Florencio Torres. Her sisters-in-law Norma Lopez [Adolfo Lopez], Sylvia Saenz [Alex Saenz], Yvonne Guajardo [Michael Guajardo], and brothers-in-law Samuel Alaniz Sr. [Myra Alaniz], and Jose Manuel Alaniz [Elva Alaniz].
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at Seaside Chapel. A rosary/prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. that same evening at Seaside Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2019, at Solid Rock Church Yorktown Campus. Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be John Michael Martinez, Michael Longoria, Kenneth Saenz, Samuel Alaniz Jr., Michael Ryan Guajardo, and Richard McDermott. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seaside Memorial Park and Funeral Home.
