Lydia V. Gutierrez

Lydia Villarreal Gutierrez, age 86, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, January 25, 2019 in Corpus Christi, TX.
She was born on August 28, 1932 to Jesus and Lilly Villarreal in Corpus Christi, TX and resided here all her life.
She graduated from Roy Miller High School class of 1950. She married the love of her life, Guadalupe Gutierrez, on January 19, 1957. Lydia retired from Corpus Christi Independent School District in 1990 and later from Sears.
She was a gentle loving person who truly lived the fruits of the Holy Spirit. She was a member of St. Helena Catholic Church. She taught CCD for over thirty years, was a Crusillista, a den mother, team mother and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.
She loved watching ALL SPORTS but her favorites were the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers. She spent countless hours with her grandchildren whom she cherished… and with her great-grandsons she called “Chiquitine”.
Lydia is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Guadalupe Gutierrez, who died at the age of 34, her parents Jesus and Lilly Villarreal, sisters Mary Barrera, Dora Blomquist, Beatrice Chacon and brother Jesus Villarreal, Jr.
Lydia is survived by her four children Hector (Bertha) Gutierrez, Lilly (Abel) Rodriguez, Julia (David) Morales of Corpus Christi and Jaime (Carole) Gutierrez of Seattle, WA. She had eight grandchildren Abel Anthony Rodriguez, Amber Gutierrez-Asadi, Autumn Gutierrez, Justin Morales, Sarah Morales, Victoria Morales, David Michael Morales, Damian Cisneros, two great-grandsons Jarrod Matthew Landa and Daniel Bentley Asadi, one great-granddaughter Athena Michelle, sisters Rita Perez and Julia Hinojosa and brother Arturo Villarreal.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers are Abel Anthony Rodriguez, Justin Andrew Morales, David Michael Morales, Damian Cisneros, Jesse Villarreal and Robert Chacon.
