Obituary

Lydia Elene Lansford Thompson Johnson passed peacefully into eternity June 1, 2023. Elene was born to Eunice and Notie Lansford on January 31, 1924, in

Carrizo Springs, Texas. She was raised there with her brothers, Harold Lansford and wife Barbara, Robert Lansford and her sister Marie Lansford

Lynch and husband Bo, of San Antonio, who have all preceded her in death, along with her 1st husband, Newton B Thompson of Pearsall/Carrizo Springs, and 2nd husband, Bill Johnson of Corpus Christi, and her daughter Linda

Mobley of Uvalde, grandson Lance Van Horn Jr., and stepdaughter, Chris Johnson of Willis, Texas.

She is survived by her daughter Tommie Jan (TJ) Thompson of Con Can, Texas, stepdaughter, Judy, and husband, Al Hogan of Rockport, stepson, Mike Johnson of Rockport. Elene was also survived by, and very proud of, her

nephews, Notie Lansford and wife Paula, of Stillwater, OK, Todd Lansford and wife JoDell, of Corpus Christi, William Lansford, and wife Janice, of Belton and Tim Lynch of San Antonio. Elene is also survived by her beautiful nieces. Teresia Harwell, and husband, Rick of Granite Shoals, Ann Blankenship, and husband Terry, of Carrizo Springs. Elene is also survived by “adopted” daughters Kimberlea Stalker and husband Bill, of Con Can, Susan Rosson of New Braunfels, MaryJane Johnson of Rockport, Jeanelle Coleman of Carrizo Springs and “adopted “son, Frank Frazier, and wife Linda, of Seguin. Elene was extremely fond of all her extended nieces, nephews, 8 grandchildren: Elie and Lexi Van Horn; Jerry and Beth King; Terry and Shannon King; Marji and Corey Stark; Kevin Johnson; Brett and Iara Johnson; Nick and Matraca Johnson, 24 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren throughout this large loving family whom she loved very much. Family was important to Elene and her many friends whom she kept constant calendars to remind her of birthdays and anniversaries so she could mail out cards to everyone wishing them loving and thoughtful wishes.

Elene graduated high school in Carrizo Springs in 1941 and attended A&I University in Kingsville. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carrizo springs and then St. John’s Methodist Church, Corpus Christi.

Many folks will remember Elene working at the old Texas Theatre in Carrizo or the Farm and Ranch store where she stocked every imaginable householditem on her side of the store or working at the Union State Bank. She played tennis and basketball in high school and was on a bowling league in Uvalde. Special love and appreciation to Janie Rubio and Jennifer Morales for all the love, patience and care they gave Elene during her transition from this earth. You both are earthly angels that we love and admire.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to Uvalde Hospice at 100 Royal Lane, Uvalde, TX 78801. 

A visitation will be held at 11am on Friday, June 9, 2023 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held 12pm that same afternoon. Entombment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
