Maria Amelda Hinojosa Garcia

Maria Amelda Hinojosa Garcia, age 91, passed away peacefully with family on March 12, 2023. She was born on September 12, 1931 in Kingsville, Texas to Inocencio and Esther (Trevino) Hinojosa. She graduated from King High School, then attended and graduated from Texas A&I University in 1953 with a degree in Education.

In 1955, she married her loving husband of 66 years, Federico G. Garcia.

She was the beloved mother of three children, Federico Orlando Garcia (Sadie), Maria Ester Garcia Cortez (Rudy), and Carlos Adrian Garcia (Casey), grandmother of 6 grandchildren, and great-grandmother of 4 great-grandchildren.

Amelda was a woman of faith, love, and compassion. She was dearly esteemed by friends and family members, and Godmother to numerous nieces and nephews. She welcomed everyone to her home as the main gathering place for all family and extended family members. She enjoyed volunteering and participated in the choir at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and was a member of the Altar Society. She instilled the importance of education to her children by encouraging them to continue their college education and persevere in their careers. She was an educator for over 30 years in the Corpus Christi Independent School District.

She enjoyed traveling with her beloved husband, Lico, to Mexico and to other countries abroad.

She is preceded in death by her parents Inocencio and Esther Trevino Hinojosa, her husband Federico G. Garcia and her sister Armida Hinojosa Villareal. She is survived by her sister Ludyvina Hinojosa Vela, and her children, Federico O. Garcia, Maria Ester Garcia Cortez and Carlos A. Garcia.

Her memory will be treasured forever and remembered always.
