Mary Luciano, lovingly known as “Sweetie Pie”, peacefully passed away on Nov. 21, 2018, in the presence of her loving family. She was born on Dec. 29, 1919, in Lanciano, Italy. She immigrated to America in 1928, settling in Detroit, MI, and later Corpus Christi, TX. In 1940, she married her childhood sweetheart, Joseph Luciano, whom she met on the boat coming to America.
The family opened Vince’s Restaurant in 1947, and in 1964, Joe and Mary opened the beloved Luciano’s Italian Restaurant in Corpus Christi, TX. Her greatest joys in life were her family, faith, cooking, and sipping on wine.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Angela Ruscelli, her beloved husband Joseph Anthony Luciano, her brother Alfred Ruscelli, son-in-law Bill Swanson, and sister-in-law Jeannine Ruscelli.
She is survived by her brother, Vincent Ruscelli of Houston, son Nick Luciano of Memphis, TN, daughter Linda Swanson of Harlingen, TX, grandchildren Suzanne (Brent) Manning, Charles Swanson, Michelle Cohen, Vittorio (Kelsey) Luciano, and Jocelyn Luciano. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Christian, Tyler, and Ethan Swanson, Mary Hayden and Emma Manning, Taylor Cohen, Gemma Luciano, and one great-great- grandson, Nathaniel.
A Visitation will be held from 6-9 P.M. Tuesday November 27, 2018 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel, a Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. that same evening. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, your local Humane Society, or the charity of your choice.
