Mary Leija Martinez

Mary Leija Martinez, age 79, passed away June 26, 2018. She was born on November 1, 1938 to Augustin and Emilia Leija in Corpus Christi, Texas. Mary was employed by South Shore Christian Church.

Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and cousin. She will always be remembered for her love and devotion for her family, how she loved to cook and watch her novelas, drink an occasional glass of wine, her sweet tooth and beautiful smile.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Augustin and Emilia Leija, sister, Teresa, brothers, Augustin, Jr., Paulino and Placido, sons, Raymond and Dennis Martinez. Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Elvia (Ernest) Martinez, sons, Robert (Kathy) Martinez, Michael (Claudia) Martinez and Abel (Rosa) Martinez, daughter-in-law, Laura Martinez and numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

A Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 6, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.

Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers are Johnny Montalvo, Jesus Flores, Mike Martinez, Jr., Ernest Flores, Jr., Raymond Martinez, Jr. and Andrew Martinez. Honorary pallbearer will be Michelle Osorio.
