Mary Louise Soto passed away on September 8, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was born in Austin, Texas to Elizabeth Wilmot and Charles Pink Evans Sr. She is survived by her loving husband, Tiburcio Soto Jr.; her children, James Soto, Dianna Charo/ spouse Gilbert Rene Charo, Pat Miller/ spouse Stephen Miller, Victor Soto, / spouse Anamay Soto, and Alicia Soto; and her 6 grandchildren Marisa Charo/ spouse Damian Bocanegra, Olivia Charo, Ashley Soto, Charlie Soto, Charlien Soto, and Chanel Soto. Sisters Elizabeth Perales, Bertha Dominguez, and Ida Evans. Brothers Edward Evans, Albert Evans, John Evans, and Manuel Evans.

Mary is preceded in death by her mother and father Elizabeth Wilmot and Charles Pink Evans Sr. and her brother Charles Evans Jr.

Mary Louise and Tiburcio were married on May 3, 1964 in a beautiful ceremony at St. Joseph Church in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Tiburcio met Mary Louise when his brother rented a house from her family in the early 1960’s; however, the romance did not begin until a wedding reception for her sister.  Mary’s brother came up to Tiburcio and said, “You should dance with my sister Mary Louise because she wants to dance with you!” Mary Louise and Tiburcio continued dancing happily for 59 years.

Mary and Tiburcio’s first child was born January 1967 and they moved to the south side of Corpus Christi where they purchased their first home. Soon afterwards, they moved to a 1-acre homestead and this is where they stayed to raise their 5 children.

Mary loved camping, the outdoors, animals, birds, and she loved her plants. She loved going to garden centers in San Antonio with her husband and she loved working in her yard growing beautiful plants each year.

First and foremost, Mary was a homemaker who was extremely protective of her children.  Mary was a loving mother that would volunteer every year to help her children and grandchildren’s schools in every activity she could. Mary loved to volunteer and she would reminisce about when she was a candy striper with Spohn Hospital.

This world lost a beautiful person but Heaven gained a beautiful soul. Mary will be forever missed.
