Obituary

Naomi Towns, age 90, passed away September 8, 2021. She was born on October 4, 1930 to Elodia Joy Lopez and Mr. Lopez in San Benito, Texas where she was raised and graduated from San Benito High School.

Naomi married her husband, Charles Joseph Towns. She graduated from A&I Kingsville with a Bachelor’s in Education, Our Lady of the Lake with a Master’s in Communication. She then went for her PHD but stopped short to care for her husband who developed Alzheimer’s and later passed away.

She taught at Brownsville Independent School District along with Corpus Christi Independent School District. Naomi also taught CCD Religious Classed at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Naomi will always be remembered for her lifelong teaching, master’s degree, being a very active Republican Party, teacher at St. Patrick Church, being an excellent partitioner, receiving a state award for outstanding teacher and her love for the Dallas Cowboys and the Marine Corps.

Naomi Irene Towns is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Joseph Towns.

Left to cherish her memories are her son, Rene Towns (Ann); daughter, Anna Marie; son, Joseph James (Debbie); son, Robert Towns (Chin); 8 grandchildren, Mark Adams Towns, Cole Sebastian Towns (USA), Lillian Eve Towns (USN), Monica Lynn (USMC), Paul Damien Towns, Ben A. Towns, Anastasia Noemi (Davis) and Ariel Jean; 9 great-grandchildren and Tamez family, Garcia family, De Pena family, Amos family, Lopez family, Cortez family, McDonald family and Gomez family.

Visitation will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to BSA Troop 162 Boy Scoutmaster Emeritus Rene Towns, 633 Glazebrook Corpus Christi, Texas 78404.

Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers are Paul Towns, Ben Towns, Cole Towns, Phillip Weidner, Juniper Weidner, Lydia Weidner and Monica Weidner.
