Natalia Vasquez Elwin Martin passed away peacefully on June 4, 2021. She was born on June 15, 1935 to Castulo and Adelaida Garza Vasquez in Harlingen, Texas. Natalia was a devout Catholic woman and a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church since 1969. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and Catholic Daughters of America. Mother loved taking care of her children and emphasized to them to never give up on their aspirations, to always keep God first in their lives and to always treat others with kindness and respect. She never met a stranger and always helped others in need.
Natalia is preceded in death by her first son, Baby Elwin; husband, Ralph E. Martin; and granddaughter Catherine Ann George. As well as her parents and Step-mother, Juana (Ama) Vasquez and siblings, Castulo (Elizabeth) Vasquez, Juan (Chela) Vasquez, Roberto Vasquez, Minerva V. Mora, Leonel Vasquez and Rene Vasquez.
Natalia is survived by her children, Rachel (Charles) Perry, Nathan Elwin, Jr. (Yolanda Llanes), Carolyn (Michael) George, and Thelma Elwin; grandchildren, Joey Perry, Kimberly (Norman) Gresham, Andrew Perry, Michael George II, Jennifer (Jesse) Whitehurst, James George, Patrick George, Matthew LeDuke, Anthony (Maria) Elwin, Adrian Elwin (Allyson Kimble), and Casaundra Elwin Mitchell; 9 great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Gloria Vasquez and Nellie Vasquez. Surviving siblings, Mavis (Baldomero) Torres, Charlie (Maria) Vasquez, Norma Vasquez, and Noe (Linda) Vasquez.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, June 11, 2021 with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church with an Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers are her grandsons, Joey Perry, Anthony Elwin, Michael George II, Adrian Elwin, Andrew Perry, Matthew LeDuke, James George and Patrick George.
