Beloved mother and grandmother, Nelda “Ruth” Wootton passed away on May 21, 2018 at the age of 92 years old. She was born on February 2, 1926 to Neal and Anna Lawson in Exeter, Missouri. She grew up in Exeter MO on the family farm but lived most of her life in Corpus Christi, Texas.
She was employed as a medical secretary for Drs. Lewis, Silverman, Woolvin and King for 30 years. In her spare time, she loved quilting, sewing, bowling and traveling with her husband and her California family. She was a member of the Oak Park United Methodist Church Quilting group, a senior bowling league and Windsor Park Baptist Church. She also volunteered at the USS Lexington Museum On The Bay.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Charles Kenneth Wootton, USN CPO retired, her brothers Bert and Robert Lawson and sisters Mary Richardson and Neva Snarr. Left to cherish her memories are her daughters Betty Craig of Camp Creek Lake and Belva (Wayne) Johnson of Pleasanton and her grandson, William Cody Craig of Corpus Christi and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Seaside Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 25, 2018 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
