Nicel Concepcion Estillore, 38, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 12, 2022. An avid Houston Astros fan, she became a star among her beloved furry four-legged stars: doggies Cuddles, Ellie, Rooke, and cat Smokey. Her final days were spent always talking with her family and her Hershie Barr, her other intuitive furry four-legged dog.
A beloved daughter, sister, and aunt, Nicel appreciated life's simple pleasures. She enjoyed listening to classical music, playing the violin, working on puzzles, crafting origami, and creating beautiful memories using Shutterfly. She loved playing Go-Fish with her older sister, Abby. She spent many happy moments hanging out and driving around with her older brother, Anthony. She liked cooking traditional Philippine food with her dad, Nick. Most of all, she always looked forward to shopping for good deals and free stuff with her mom, Cel.
Always the loving mom to her furry four-legged kids, she spoiled them with more love and care than anyone could imagine (and, of course, lots of toys and treats!). During baseball season, she was excited about going to the ballpark with her family and cheering on her favorite Astros.
Nicel was born December 29, 1983, in Quezon City, Philippines, to Nicanor and Araceli Estillore. In 1993, she moved to Houston with her family and continued her education. A Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Houston, she completed her Bachelor's degree in 2006 and her Ph.D. in chemistry in 2011. In 2016, she worked as a laboratory specialist at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi until her untimely passing. She was well-liked by her coworkers for her organized, dedicated, and passionate work ethic. She will be remembered as someone who loved the pursuit of knowledge.
She is survived by her loving parents, Nicanor and Araceli Estillore; her older sister, Abby; her older brother, Anthony; her niece, Emma; and her nephews, Ethan and Evan.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
