Ofelia F Aldape

December 5, 1929 ~ September 10, 2022 (age 92) 92 Years Old

Obituary

Adulation in describing special loved ones is customary and expected. With Ofelia, we have to carefully choose words to paint her uncommon character portrait. Physically, she possessed unique and delicate beauty that was promptly overtaken by her kindness to others. She was equipped with quick wit, keen observational skills that could penetrate intentions, and the ability to interject a blithe statement to decorate her conversation. Never did she maneuver a pointed attack to correct anybody, and much less embarrass the deserving. Knowing that she was in complete control was simply intimidating. She had a baseline in her character that began with a smile of understanding, listening skills, and a finish of compassion.

This beautiful human married Julio Realme Aldape on August 14, 1945, at the tender age of 14. She stayed home with her first child, Joel Aldape, while her husband, Julio, left to serve his country during WWII. A role and pattern of dedication was set early. She faithfully served her God, her children, and her husband for the rest of her life.

Upon reaching age 60, with children grown and on their own, Ofelia decided to work at Jo Ann’s Fabric shop as a saleslady and people that remember her there cannot forget her. Never bragging, she none-the-less managed to show people pictures of her Texas A&M Ross Volunteer boys. She served the church that her husband pastored as a nursery worker and teacher for very young children.

Her children are Joel Aldape, Elizabeth A. Gonzales, Hector Aldape, Annette A. Cano, and Lydia Aldape. She engendered 18 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and one great, great, grandchild. We were blessed to have her.
