Patricia Ann Ponton

Patricia Flinn Ponton, age 82, of Corpus Christi passed away February 5, 2021 in Cypress, Texas, where she had been staying with her daughter. She was born on September 11, 1938 to Florine and Owen Flinn in Harlingen, Texas, where she grew up and graduated from Harlingen High School in 1957. She continued her education at Southern Methodist University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.

Out of college Pat and her family lived in Sunnyvale, California and moved to Corpus Christi in 1964. In 1972, she married the love of her life, Ken Ponton, on February 11. Together, they were very active members of Pharaohs Country Club. They loved playing golf, traveling and being with their wonderful friends. Pat was an Administrative Assistant at Southwestern Refining prior to retiring. In her later years, Pat thrived on playing bridge and the company she kept while doing so. She had so many close friends that she loved dearly. Pat had a special place in her heart for children which led her to volunteer for CASA for many years, while she was still physically able.

Pat is preceded in death by her husband, Ken Ponton; her father, O.R. Flinn and her mother, Florine Flinn.

Pat is survived by her daughter, Lynne (Ken) Sheldon; grandchildren, Erin and Kenny Sheldon; her brother, Ronie (Ann) Flinn; and nephews, David Flinn and John Flinn.

A funeral service celebrating Patricia’s life will be held at the Seaside Funeral Home Chapel, on Friday, February 26, 2021 at 1:30 p.m.
