Paul A. Turton

November 14, 1939 ~ January 14, 2020 (age 80) 80 Years Old

Obituary

Paul Allen Turton, was born on November 14, 1939, the son of Joseph and Dorothy (White) Turton. He was raised in Washington, DC and Pittsville, MD.

Paul entered the Air Force and was stationed in Spain and Germany, working in radar maintenance. Through the years he held management positions including with IBM Corporation, Scientific Measurement Systems, Amdahl Corporation, Boole & Babbage, and during the 80s when he lived in Corpus Christi, he was general manager of Entre Computer Center and Dunhill Personnel Service. During his years in Minneapolis, Paul worked at non-profits. Serving his Lord and Saviour was very important to him, and he would volunteer his expertise with audio and video at church or non-profit events.

Paul was very technical and could troubleshoot and repair where others would be baffled. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t do. He had the opportunity to be a technical consultant to NASA Huntsville, Cape Kennedy, and Rocketdyne Corp. for the Space Shuttle Main Engines. During the space flights he would be glued to the television.

Paul was kind, generous, and patient. He loved the water and sailing; he had to leave his sailboat, Therapy, behind when he moved to Minneapolis. His other loves were their three “girls”: Scheherezade, Mercedes, and Synglei Sima. While in Minnesota he did organic gardening, and Farmer Paul would start seeds and nurture them under grow lights, until he could plant them in the raised bed he built. One year he started 16 tomato plants … all survived! A massive harvest; Paul & Pat learned how to can tomatoes!

Paul is survived by his wife, Patricia, of 30 years; sons Jeff (Allie), Ken (Cecelia), and Chris (Angie); daughters: Lisa Ardolina, and Kim (Mark) Heinsius; grandsons: Steve, Caleb, Mark Alan, and Kyle; granddaughters: Ashley and Ryleigh; his sister Linda (Kent) Heinrichs, and brother Raymond; brother- and sister-in-law Harry and Marianne Philipenko; as well as Turton and Philipenko nieces and nephews, and extended family.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Paul’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Southside Community Church.
