October 22, 1935 ~ November 12, 2023 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Obituary

It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the passing of Perfecto Rodriguez, Jr.  Perfecto was a loving husband, caring father to his children and Poppy to his grandchildren. Often humorous, he spoke his own lingo and gave loving nicknames to his family members. For decades, Perfecto enjoyed traveling with his family and friends to the hill country and his hometown of Brownsville, Texas. In 1974, he was the first Mexican-American recommended by the Corpus Christi Police Department for training at the National Academy of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Quantico, Virginia.  He was a sharpshooter-TopGun, avid reader, and mastered several trades by reading books. Tall and handsome, his charisma was felt when he walked into any room.  Perfecto enjoyed an ice-cold beer in the summer time and wild turkey in the winter. The love and affection that he showed to his family is one of his greatest gifts and will never be forgotten.

Perfecto Rodriguez, Jr., was born on October 22, 1935, to Perfecto Rodriguez and Juanita G. Rodriguez at Los Marranos Ranch in Cameron County, Texas. He proudly served his nation in the U.S. Air Force and retired as Captain after 32 years of service with the Corpus Christi Police Department. He is preceded in death by his parents, Perfecto Rodriguez and Juanita G. Rodriguez; Sisters; Cruz Rodriguez, Beatrice Yassay, Amada Brown and Maria Rodriguez. Brothers; Rumaldo Rodriguez and Jose Rodriguez. Father-in-law Jose Casares, mother-in-law Josephine Casares and sister-in-law Regina Ward.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Sylvia C. Rodriguez. Children: Sylvia Salas (George), Perfecto Rodriguez, III (Brenda), Patricia Rodriguez, David Rodriguez and Yvonne Rodriguez. Carlos Medina (father of Carlos and Christian Medina). Grandchildren: George Allen Salas, Jennifer Longoria (Ramon), Eric Rodriguez, Rhiannon Rodriguez, Dru Rodriguez (Stephanie), Perfecto Rodriguez, IV (Jacqueline), Carlos Medina, Christian Medina, and Regina Rodriguez. Brothers: Agapito Rodriguez, Zeferino Rodriguez and Francisco Rodriguez; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Perfecto Rodriguez, III, David Rodriguez, Dru Rodriguez, Perfecto Rodriguez, IV, Carlos Medina, Christian Medina, and Joe Ward.  Honorary pallbearers include Agapito Rodriguez, Zeferino Rodriguez and Francisco Rodriguez.

Much love and gratitude to Dawn Hosack, RN, and the crew at Aadi Hospice. Jennifer Lamb, Idalia Ramirez and Isabel Perales. Our friends who turned into loving caregivers: Ida Salazar and Marcy Villegas. We are forever thankful to them all.
