Ramiro “Ray” Paiz went to be with the Lord on March 30, 2018. He was born on September 2, 1950 in Mathis, Texas to Espiridion Paiz and Maria Paiz.
Ray will always be remembered for his deep love of God, endless devotion to his family, his relentless work ethic, service to the community and for his love towards others.
Ray grew up in Mathis, Texas and graduated from Mathis High School. He graduated from Texas A & I University, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.
Ray married the love of his life, Mary Ella Paiz, in 1976. He was a State Farm Agent for over forty years. He had twin children, Candice Paiz Garcia (Daniel) and Dante Ray Paiz (Hailey). Ray had two grandchildren, Liam Daniel Ray Garcia and Juliette Bella Garcia. He was a faithful member of Primera Iglesia Bautista for many years and also Gardendale Baptist Church. He served on many different committees in the church. He also served in the Baptist General Convention of Texas. He loved serving and taking part in Baptist Family camps during many summers. He was able to share God’s love with many people during his life. He presently is a member of Church Unlimited Rodd Field, where his son Dante serves as the Campus Pastor. As a State Farm Insurance Agent, for over forty years, Ray was recognized and given countless awards. He had so many wonderful State Farm Agent friends and many of his policyholders were his friends. With him, the policyholders always came first. He would go over and beyond to help them. Early on he was part of Leadership Corpus Christi. Ray always stayed involved in various community organizations; he was all about paying it forward. First and foremost, he always wanted to spend time with his family.
He truly enjoyed fishing, especially with his son and son-in-law. He also loved hearing fishing stories. He enjoyed watching all sports, especially when he could watch sports with his son Dante. He loved watching movies with his wife and friends. He also loved traveling and taking cruises. Exercising was another thing he always did and he was very disciplined about his exercise. He also spent a lot of his time reading his bible; you would often find an open bible at the dinner table. He always looked forward to Sundays, he never wanted to miss church or miss listening to God’s word.
He enjoyed playing card games and games with friends. Ray loved going to San Antonio and seeing his daughter and grandchildren, the apples of his eye. He was always there for his family and his extended family. Every year, he and his wife would host a Christmas party to bring his family together. He dearly missed his two brothers who passed away far too early. Now he is rejoicing with them in Heaven. Ray cared about everyone and will be dearly missed, but we know that he is with his Heavenly Father that loves him and us so much.
Ray is survived by his wife: Mary Ella Paiz, children: Dante Paiz (Hailey) and Candice Paiz Garcia (Daniel), grandchildren: Liam Daniel Ray and Juliette Bella Garcia, sisters: Nola Navarette and Rosa Alfaro (Blas).
