Rebecca Duarte Galvan

Rebecca Duarte Galvan, age 87, passed away peacefully May 12, 2023. She was at home surrounded by her family who loved her dearly.

Rebecca was born December 14, 1935, to Jose and Leonor Duarte in McAllen, Texas. She married the love of her life, Jesus Humberto Galvan on April 24, 1958. They fell in love at first sight and enjoyed many wonderful years together until his passing on November 11, 2019. She missed his great sense of humor and dancing to their favorite music “Cheek to Cheek”. She touched all our hearts and we miss her deeply.

She enjoyed many years working at Osteopathic Hospital, as a ward clerk, where she was loved and admired by all the doctors and nurses who worked alongside her. She was a genuine, beautiful, generous, faithful and loving woman and we will hold her in our hearts till we meet again.

Rebecca is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, four brothers and survived by one brother, Rene Duarte (Linda).

She leaves behind four children, Ricardo Rene (Norma), Roberto Eugenio (Rachel), Norma Elsa (Mark) and Reynaldo David (Cindy); eleven grandchildren, Hilario “Larry”, Ricardo II, Alexandria, Roberto Jr. (Eliza), William “Joey” (Jennifer), Julia, Anthony (Melanie), Jeffrey (Sara), Miranda (Jorge), Ian Jesse, Melissa Rae and many beautiful great- grandchildren and many beautiful nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank the team from Holy Savior Hospice for their loving care of our Mom and the peace that they brought to our family in our time of need. We would especially like to thank Nurse Melissa and Nurse Connie Sue for lovingly taking care of our Mom for several years.

A special thanks to Fr. Bob Dunn and Fr. Mathias for anointing our Mom and for their love, support and spiritual guidance.

A Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00pm on Friday, May 19, 2023, at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00pm that evening.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church at 1:00pm with interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
