August 1, 1963 ~ May 7, 2021 (age 57) 57 Years Old

Obituary

Roland Mabagos Chiapoco, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2021 at the age of 57 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born on August 1, 1963 in Manila, Philippines. He was the fifth oldest, amongst the 9 children, of Eugenio Chiapoco and Consuelo Mabagos, who are both deceased.  He was survived by his six siblings, Albert, Tes, Henry, Je, Vicky, and Rose including in-laws, numerous nieces and nephews.

He received his formal education from University of Santo Tomas, Manila Philippines with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Fine Arts. Enthusiastic in his arts, he is innovative and ingenious in his works. Everyone knew that Roland would put his utmost passion into creating designs that reflected his warmth and soul. He is generous in sharing his time granting everyone’s favors especially to his family.  Whether it is creating invites for birthdays, weddings, graduation, showers and retirement parties, he was simply there when his artistic talents were needed. With a real eye for the arts, Roland loved watching and collecting DVD’s. His love for movies was something he also shared with his dear mother, when they used to have their weekend movie dates at the movie theaters. Not only a talented artist, the kitchen is his domain, Roland is a very good “cook”. Known for his excellent “pancit” and “pancit palabok”, everybody always raves about his delicious cooking. His passion and talent for cooking is really undeniable.

Roland has unconditional kindness, generosity and love in his heart. He is very much loved by his family, friends and co-workers. In the family, he is the one who you can easily open up to, the one who always has time to listen, and someone you can always rely on. As a friend, he is very kind, generous and trustworthy.  A true leader, he fought many causes for his co-workers when he used to work at People’s Journal in the Philippines even if it meant giving up his personal and career growth.

Thanks for the life of a man whom we can proudly call a son, a brother, an uncle, godparent to many and a true friend. The unique, one of a kind and irreplaceable Roland whose wit and strength, both internal and external, will never be forgotten from our minds. His memories will live on in the hearts and mind of everyone who knew him.
