Obituary

Tommy joined his heavenly family on October 19, 2018. He was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma on November 5, 1920, the 4th of 8 children born to Paul Bryan and Susie Mason Higgins.

He served in WWII in the Army Air Corp as a Radio Operator in the South Pacific. He took great pride that one of his duties was guiding lost bombers squadrons back to their island. After the war, he moved to Beeville to join his parents and sister. There he met Violet Noreen O’Neal and they were married on February 12, 1948.

They moved to Corpus in 1950 and he went to work for the Chicago Corporation as a draftsman. He retired from Champlin Production office in 1975 to become an independent Landman.
In 1977 he and Noreen bought a ranch in Bee County. Whispering Oaks was their pride and joy and they especially enjoyed hosting their yearly bird hunt and the “Higgins Open” golf tournament at the Beeville Country Club. Many happy hours were spent on that ranch.

Tommy was preceded in death by his wife, Noreen, in 2012, his parents, all of his siblings and his son-in-law, Wayne Granberry.

He is survived by his daughter Linda Granberry and his son Michael Higgins and wife Jeannie and daughter Emma. Also survived by Linda’s son Rex Rencher (Stacy) and Linda’s daughter Christi Thompson (BJ), and great grandchildren Kaitlyn, Amanda, Kiera, Matthew and Eric , and great-great grandchildren, Lincoln and Lilly. As well as many gin players and golfers who brought joy into his life.
