Obituary

Rosalinda T. Barrera, loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, and aunt was called to the Lord on June 21, 2022. She was born on November 13, 1955, in Laredo, Texas. She was the oldest of three children born to Elsa Chapa and Raul Trevino Sr. She graduated from Mary Carroll High School in Corpus Christi, Tx. in 1974. On January 8, 1977, she married the love of her life Casimiro A. Barrera. They moved to Houston where she graduated from the University of Houston in December 1980. Shortly after graduation they moved back to Corpus Christi, Tx., where she became an elementary teacher for CCISD, where she retired in 2011.

Rosie was preceded in death by her father Raul Trevino Sr.

Rosie is survived by her husband Casimiro A. Barrera Sr., her mother Elsa Jackson, her children Casimiro Jr. (Gavriela) of George West and Celestino (Crystal) of Three Rivers, her brother Raul Trevino Jr. of Austin, her sister Laura Trevino, her brother Leonardo Trevino, her sister Marisa Thomason (Frank) of Fort Worth her stepsiblings Deborah Pellham of Henderson, Karen Jackson of Kerrville, Michael Jackson (Elmer) of Verona, WI., Robert Jackson (Robin) of Carrollton, and Maecella Jackson of Bellaire. As well as her grandchildren Zoe, Trinity, Noah, Lorelai, Octavia, Abigail, and Malachi, and nieces and nephews Sean, Chris, Chelsea, Will, Aviah, Lydia, Adaline, Levi, Leonardo Jr., and Anna.

Rosie enjoyed volunteering her time to help those in the community. She continued to have a passion for teaching after she retired, she volunteered many hours to help young minds. She was an active member of the Guadalupanas, the Red Hat Sisterhood of Corpus Christi, and the Schoenstatt Rosary Campaign. She loved painting, dancing, traveling, and sewing for her grandchildren. She seldom missed a chance to attend her grandchildren’s numerous activities.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 1, 2022 from 6:00pm-9:00pm with a rosary to be recited at 7:00pm that same evening in the Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Trevino Cemetery in Zapata, Texas at 2:00pm.
