Russell J. Wilson

Russell John Wilson (Rusty), age 84, passed away on Sunday, April 29th, 2018 at his home in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born on September 9, 1933 in Bellingham, Massachusetts to William John Wilson and Hazel Marie Hill. Russell was a first generation American descendant from England. He graduated from Bellingham High School and Del Mar Community College with a degree in Welding and Mechanics. He served in the Army Air Corps (U.S.A.F.) from December 21, 1951 to January 1, 1954.
Russell married his wife, Lary Jo Nobles, on October 22, 1952 in Austin, Texas. He was employed by the City of Corpus Christi Water and Gas Division.
Russell was a loving father and husband. He enjoyed baseball, hunting and fishing. Russell caught one of the biggest catfish ever during one of his many fishing trips. He was a major baseball fan and turned two girls into a whole team. He was an umpire for little league for twenty two years and also played baseball in Canada.
Russell is preceded in death by his wife: Lary Jo Nobles, mother, Hazel Marie Hill, father, William John Wilson, paternal grandparents, George Wilson and Sarah Gibbs, maternal grandparents, Thomas Hill and Nellie Haney, siblings, Wesley Howard Johnson and Ronald Charles Wilson. Left to cherish his memories are his children: Deborah Marie Anderson (Wayne) and Karron Lucille Sterling, grandchildren: Shawna Marie Palmer, John Wesley Wilson, Damean Louise Duncan, Karron Fay Sterling, great- grandchildren: Damara Jo LaBoy, Anthony Neil Clay, Athena Lucille Sterling, Lara Destiny Sterling, Christopher Damon Duncan, Timothy Michael Duncan, Rylan Dakota Duncan, John Thomas Wilson, Zackary Russell Wilson, great-great- grandchildren: Latham Robert Mitchell, Devin Ry Mitchell, Aurora Emily LaBoy.
The family would like to thank the nurses from Sandoval especially Maribella as well as the staff from Kindered Hospice.
A Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Seaside Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2018 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park
