We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Seaside Funeral Home
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Samuel “Sammy” Kins at 84. Born in Tyler, TX on November 27, 1937, he moved to Corpus Christi in 1940, where his father, Jack, established the Jax Beer Distributorship. Sammy graduated from Ray High School in 1955 and then went on to the University of Texas in Austin.
While attending UT, he met the love of his life and wife of 61 years, Carol Lynn Kins. Sammy brought passion, principles and perseverance to everything he did. Whether detailing his cars, motorcycles or tractor at the ranch, riding with his Harley gang, flying his plane (becoming an instrumented rated pilot at 70 years old) or pursuing his business endeavors such as, acquiring the distribution rights to Coors Beer and building a successful real estate enterprise, he had an intensity second to none. His greatest joy was spending time with Carol, his family and his friends. His grandchildren refer to him as Captain Poppy and marveled at his tenacity and focus.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol, daughter, Jamie Kins Rosenblood and her husband, Ken, son, Jack Kins and his wife, Leigh, and his four grandchildren Jackson Kins, Robbie Rosenblood, Sarah Rosenblood, and Dylan Kins.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jack Kins, mother Zelma “Sweetie” Kins, sister Polly Kins Ettelman and her husband Ray.
The funeral service will be at Seaside Funeral Home & Memorial Park at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May, 27th, in the Seaside Chapel at 4357 Ocean Dr, Corpus Christi, TX 78412.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Nantz National Alzheimer Center at Houston Methodist Hospital or a charity of your choice.
