Shawn Patrick Wesson, age 51, passed away on December 29, 2021 at his home in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born on May 15, 1970 at Port Deposit, Maryland.
Shawn is survived by his wife, Brandy (Sims) Wesson; three children, Seth, Cort and Peri Wesson; grandson, Colt Wesson; two step-children, Caitlyn and Dawson Voris and his wife, Hannah Voris; his mother, Barbara (Falkenhan) Wesson; sisters Gayle Abels and Caitlin Brown, her husband, John Brown; brother Joshua Newton; brother-in-law, John Sims; eight nieces and nephews; and his step-mother, Ruth Newton. He also left behind countless loving friends and community members. He was preceded in death by his adoptive father, George Wesson, his birth father, John Newton, his father-in-law, Rocky Sims, his brother-in-law, Russell Abels, and grandparents.
Shawn grew up primarily in Corpus Christi, Texas. As a child, he had a passion for sports and went on to play football throughout high school. He proudly joined the Army shortly after high school and went on to receive several medals, expert badges and ribbons as an Infantryman. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Army never left him, as friends and family will attest. After he left the Army, he chased his passion of graphic design work, supporting several large brands and companies across the United States. He later found success in opening his own shop, DBS (Design By Shawn) Graphics, in 2016 in Corpus Christi, Texas. His attention to detail and design was legendary. He took immense pride in always leaving his customers with something they, too, were proud to have. Although Shawn and Brandy’s met as teenagers, it wasn’t until their paths crossed again in 2011 that they reconnected which led them to marriage in 2018. When Shawn wasn’t wowing his clients with his spectacular design work, he liked spending his time working out and being with his wife, friends, family and pets. Shawn was a loving husband, proud uncle and future grandfather, and a true friend to everyone he met.
