Obituary

Shirley L. Sternadel passed away on April 7, 2024 at the age of 88. She was born on October 12, 1935 in Kingsville, Texas to Delma and Beulah Luce. She grew up in Kingsville and graduated from Kingsville High School. She earned a Bachelor of Secondary Education degree in 1956 from Texas A & I College in Kingsville, Texas.

In May 1956, just prior to college graduation, she married Norbert J. Sternadel. Their union lasted 20 years and they had two daughters.

After graduating college, she taught girls physical education at Dubose Junior High in Alice, Texas for a short period of time.  She also taught at Henrietta M. King High School in Kingsville. In the mid-sixties she began her career in real estate, opening American Realty in Kingsville. She was an active Broker for many years during which time she served on the Texas Realtor Board of Directors and as President of MLS in Kingsville. In 1981 she was recognized as one of Mercantile National Bank’s First Ladies of Business. In the early 80’s she moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where she opened another real estate office. In the mid 90’s she moved to Beach Place Condominiums and began specializing in condominium rentals.

She lived a full and social life. She loved to dance. She played MANY hands of bridge which in her later life turned into MANY hands of poker. She participated in bowling leagues, the Kingsville Woman’s Club, and also the Kingsville Follies.

Throughout her life, she loved to travel with family and friends. She and Joyce, her lifelong best friend, traveled to many parts of the world together. She especially loved to travel when a trip to a casino was on the itinerary.

She loved living at Beach Place and all the friends she made while living there.

She was preceded in death by her parents Delma and Beulah Luce.

She is survived by two daughters, Carla Norman (Marc), and Brenda Sternadel and one grandchild Kenneth Norman (Laura). She also leaves many cousins and friends who she was thankful to have in her life.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30am on Friday, April 19, 2024 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel.
