Thomas "Tommy" Frederick Isenberg died on June 30, 2017. He was the youngest of five sons born to Elmer and Nettie Isenberg in Corpus Christi, Texas on February 11, 1942. He attended W.B. Ray High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Rebecca “Becky” Wilson, in 1959. He served in the United States Army from 1966-68 at Fort Hood, Texas as part of the Second Armored Division. While in the Army, he was a member of the competition shooting team. After his honorable discharge from service, he worked at various refineries in east and west Texas before returning to Corpus Christi in 1975 to work at the Quintana-Howell refinery. He retired from the Flint Hills Koch refinery. In retirement, he enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren, reading, gardening, and watching old history documentaries and westerns (especially the ones in black and white). He was a long-time member of Harbor View Chapel on North Beach.
“Pop” (or “Grandpa Sir” as he was known to his grandchildren) was a humble and extraordinarily self-effacing man whose greatest pleasure in life was assisting and serving others. In both his work and his personal life, he did the jobs that no one else could or would do; and, he always did them to the best of his ability while attempting to avoid any credit for himself. He was a man of the highest integrity and was deeply patriotic. He was greatly respected by anyone who knew him.
He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers Edward, Victor and Milton. He is survived by his loving wife; his brother, Kenneth Isenberg of Portland, Texas; his children Kenneth Isenberg (Stacey), Laurie Scheel (Colin), Steven Isenberg (Kathleen) and Christopher Isenberg. He was extremely proud of his six grandchildren: Courtney Scheel Fischer (Brent), Aaron Scheel (Christina), Patrick Isenberg (fiancée Alyssa), Emily Isenberg, Sydney Isenberg and Thomas Isenberg, his two great-grandchildren Alivia Fischer and Ryland Scheel, and numerous nieces and nephews.
