Obituary

Tillie Marie Mokry, age 87, passed away on January 1, 2019. She was born on March 6, 1931 in Granger, Texas to Mary Matula Mokry and George Mokry, Sr. Tillie was born the fifth child of a family of nine children. She attended Granger High School and graduated from Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic School in Granger.

Tillie lived in Corpus for nearly 60 years. She always had a job, either working at a Movie Theater, working at J. C. Penney’s, Baby Sitting or working at a Washateria. Later she got a job at Hancock Fabrics. She loved to sew and was wonderful at helping customers pick out their fabrics and laces. She retired from Hancocks after more than 25 years.

Tillie had a kind and loving heart, always caring for others. She loved her brothers and sisters. She was very proud of all her nieces and nephews. She always wanted to hear about their accomplishments and their families.

Tillie was very independent: If she needed a ride to the doctor’s office or the bank, she rode the Little Bus. Being such a friendly person, often people offered to take her home. Tillie always went to Mass on Saturday evening. When she was no longer able to drive; she would get a ride to church or; someone would bring communion to her home

Tillie is preceded in death by her parents, Mary and George Mokry, Sr. her sisters: Georgie Cantrell, Lillian Magown, Bernadette Mokry, her brother: Jerry Mokry and her nephew: Paul Mokry.

She is survived by her brothers and sister: Laddie Mokry, George Mokry, Jr., Mary Kadlubar and husband Robert; Elvis Mokry and wife, Christine, 19 Nieces and Nephews, Great nieces and nephews and Great-Great Nieces and Nephews.

A Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.

Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers are: Michael Magown, Douglas Mokry, Josef Carnahan, John Kadlubar, Mark Mokry and David Mokry.
