Tiodoro “Ted” Burciaga, age 71, was called home to the Lord on Monday, August 24, 2020 surrounded by his loving children. He was born on October 29, 1948 in Morton, Texas to Gregorio and Petra Burciaga, who precede him in death. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Jose “Joe” Burciaga and sister, Elidia “Lile” Rodriguez.
Ted was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, who served his country for over 20 years including service in the Gulf War. Ted will be remembered for his trust and faith in God and his love for his family and friends. He was a faithful member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church – serving as a Eucharist Minister and on various ministries. He also enjoyed volunteering in the yearly Toys for Tots drive. He never met a stranger and enjoyed life with many friends and family. His ever-present smile brought great joy and comfort to all those he encountered. Most importantly, he was a loving and devoted father and Popo. He is loved beyond words and will be missed immensely.
Left to cherish his precious memories are his children - daughter, Amy (Armando) DeLoa, Jr. of Corpus Christi, TX; sons, Steven (Veronica) Burciaga of Corpus Christi, TX and Christopher (Jana) Burciaga of Porter, TX. He is also survived by his pride and joys – grandson's Devin DeLoa, Brandon (Courtney) DeLoa, Jacob (Victoria) Galvan, Marcus and Matthew Burciaga; granddaughter, Victoria (Victor Segura) Burciaga; and great-grandson, Elliot James Galvan.
Ted is also survived by his loving sisters, Juanita “Janie” Bustos, Modesta “Molly” Nesmith of Corpus Christi, TX, Criselda “Cris” Davila (Ramiro) and Delia (Jesus) Murrillo of Houston, TX and Gloria (Bill) Ciccarelli of Wilmington, DE and many dear nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2020 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park with full military honors.
Our family would like to extend our gratitude to Dr. Reddy, Spohn South 3rd floor nurses, and staff along with the ICU nurses and staff for their continuous support and devoted care of our father during his courageous battle. Our thoughts and prayers are also extended to all those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Having the distinguished honor of serving as Pallbearers are Devin DeLoa, Brandon DeLoa, Jacob Galvan, Victor Segura, Felix Lamb, and Jesse Murrillo, Jr.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions and safety, Rosary and Funeral service capacities are extremely limited. Masks are mandatory and social distancing will be fully enforced.
A live-stream of the Rosary will be available for extended family and friends to view from their home. A Celebration of Life will be held once it is safe to do so.
