Walter “Deeter” Selcer, age 73, passed away September 15, 2018. He was born on November 25, 1944 to Edward Fred Selcer and Lottie Mae Busby Selcer in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was raised in Annaville, Texas. He graduated from Calallen high school in 1963. He was married to his wife, Susan, for 43 years
Walter was employed by General Electric Corp and Candy Stick Development Corp prior to his retirement. He will always be remembered for his dedication to his church where he gave so much time in maintaining the church grounds while raising a garden for the parishioners of the church.
His great love was for his family, especially his grandsons. He had great appreciation for the outdoors, particularly, hunting and fishing. He was well known as a very successful gardener. He volunteered at “Loaves and Fishes” and “La Care”. He took many volunteer trips to places all around the country to build new churches, and also volunteered for a mission trip to Honduras. Walter also devoted a part of his life to making a difference in the Prison Ministry.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Susan; sister, Edna Mae Wishard; brothers, Charles and Donald Selcer.
Walter is survived by his son, Darrell; daughter-in-law, Heather Selcer; daughter, Sally Conlan; brothers, Jerry and Lee Selcer; grandsons, Benjamin and Matthew Selcer, and Nathan Hamilton.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 21, 2018 at Seaside Funeral Home. A Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel.
