Gloria A. Perez age 74 passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on February 21, 2018. Gloria was born on March 16, 1943 in Corpus Christi, TX. to Manuel Mendieta Alvarado and Guadalupe De Leon. She married her childhood sweetheart Frank R. Perez of 57 years on May 15, 1960. She attended Ella Barnes school and began her career as, a housekeeper at Spohn Hospital and retired as a Radiology Tech in 1989. The couple welcomed three children into their home. Her children remember her as a strong, giving and supportive mother. She enjoyed going to garage sales and antique shops, always looking for that something special to add to her home. She also loved working in her garden and tending to her flowers. Gloria is preceded in death by her parents Manuel M. Alvarado, Guadalupe De Leon Perez, her husband Frank R. Perez, Jr. and her siblings, Mary Yanez, Manuela De La Garza, Oralia Alvarado, Elida Soliz, Alicia M. Gonzalez and her brother Alfredo Alvarado. Gloria is survived by her children Ophelia Perez, Roland (Sylvia) Perez and Catherine P. (Manuel) Lara, and step sisters Rosie (Felix) Barrera and Connie Estrada, 9 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 3 great- great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive family and friends from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 26, 2018 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
