John W. (Bill) Shindledecker, formally of Galion, Ohio died peacefully at his son William’s residence in Corpus Christi, Texas on February 6, 2018 at the age of 84. John is survived by his children Mary Hall, Pamela Ledenbach, Candee O’Dell and William Shindledecker; stepchildren Chris Canfield, Andy Katona and Julie Katona, sister Peggy Kollar, 12 granddaughters and 8 grandsons. John is preceded in death by Gloria Shindledecker, Marge Shindledecker and Johnnie Shindledecker.
John was born in Edison, Ohio on June 26, 1933 to Leo and Margaret Shindledecker. John graduated from Galion High School and went on to serve his country in the US Navy. After moving to Wichita, Kansas he began working with the Wichita Police Department. He then returned to Galion where he pursued a career in Production and Inventory Control. John relocated to Coshocton, Ohio where he worked for Longaberger Baskets as a Purchasing Manager.
John was an extremely skilled wood worker and spent many hours of his retirement creating beautifully intricate works of art. John enjoyed participating in craft shows but found greater joy in creating keepsakes to give to his friends and family. John loved to garden, birdwatch and always enjoyed a good game of basketball or football. John was a loving husband and father with strong family values.
A celebration of John’s life will be held with his immediate family in Corpus Christi, Texas on Sunday, February 11, 2018.
