Max Sparks, age 91, passed away on June 19, 2017. He was born on July 25, 1925 to Henry and Effie Sparks in Sweetwater, Texas and was raised in Shreveport, Louisiana. He graduated from high school in 1943 and enlisted in the United States Army Airforce. He was a 2nd lieutenant, Army Air Corps, 444th Bombardment squadron. He received an Air medal for meritous achievement while on bombing missions in Germany during World War II. He was married to his wife, Lorene for 69 years. Max was Senior Vice President at Norvell Wilder Supply Company. He will always be remembered for being a great husband, father, advisor and mentor.
Max is survived by his spouse, Lorene Sparks, daughters, Cecilia Rice, Jean Sparks, Susan Sparks, son, Steve Sparks, sons-in-law, Jim Rice, Scott Vardeman, grandchildren, Shane Massey and Erin Massey.
A Memorial Mass was held at St. Patrick Catholic Church on June 22, 2017.
