Rachel Lucille Morris

September 11, 1942 ~ October 13, 2017 (age 75) 75 Years Old
Rachel Lucille Morris went home into God’s loving arms on Friday, October 13, 2017 with her family by her side. Lucille was born on September 11, 1942 in Refugio, Texas, the daughter of Dr. Arch and Nora Koontz of Woodsboro, Texas.
Lucille was raised in Woodsboro, Texas alongside her two brothers and two sisters. After graduating from Woodsboro High School, she went on to attend Baylor University where she received a B.A. in Elementary Education. Lucille married Wayne Morris on August 7, 1965 in Woodsboro, Texas. She taught elementary school in San Antonio, Texas and Galena Park, Texas while Wayne attended Dental School. Wayne and Lucille made their home in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1969. Lucille lived most of her adult life in Corpus Christi where she had her hands full raising three gregarious sons who loved her dearly. Lucille somehow managed to do it all from juggling her sons football and baseball games, cooking family dinners, to keeping up with a house full of family, friends and pets. Lucille’s greatest joy in life was her family and there was nothing she loved more than spending time with her husband, three boys, four grandchildren, and extended family. She often enjoyed spending her days tending to her many plants, and nights cheering on her beloved Houston Astros. Known as “Sweet Lucy” to her many friends and family, she had an undeniable love for her dogs and was the first to open up her heart and home to many dogs throughout the years including rescue dogs and grand dogs. Her faith in the Lord was strong and she was a long-time member of First Christian Church.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her beloved husband of over 52 years, Dr. Wayne H. Morris; three deeply cherished sons and daughters-in-law; Steve & Jackie Morris of Kingwood, Texas; Bart & Michelle Morris of Corpus Christi, Texas and Robert & Kelsie Morris of Corpus Christi, Texas, and four grandchildren whom she loved with her entire soul and were the light of her life; Caroline & Cullen of Kingwood, Texas; Matthew & Sarah of Corpus Christi, Texas. Her sisters, Mary Ann Leach, Jane Rainey; and her brothers, Arch Koontz Jr. and Dr. John Koontz and many nieces and nephews who she dearly loved. She is also survived by her dearest friend, Jeanene Hummell.
