We are celebrating the life of our beloved wife, mother, and friend. She was the embodiment of Proverbs 31:10-31 “Who can find a virtuous woman?”
Joanne S. Arnold, 86, entered eternal rest on December 10, 2017 at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, TX. She was born on September 3, 1931 to Earl Shackelford and Montez Wilbeck Shackelford in El Campo, TX. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Karl Gene Arnold; children, Mark Arnold, Scott Arnold (Amanda and Laura), Robert Arnold (Hannah (Erin), Nate, and Travis), Karen and Ted Nicholson (Teddy and Katie); brother, Monte Shackelford; nieces and nephews, Leslie, Julia, James, Greg and Jill Shackelford.
Joanne graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in education, a career she would devote her life to, teaching at Coles Junior High, Driscoll Junior High, and teaching at Sunday school and Thursday night bible study. She was very involved in the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, serving as past president and helping in any way she could after. She also was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Colonial Dames. She will be remembered for her passion for her genealogy, and the countless time spent researching and travelling to work on her family tree. She will be dearly missed by her family and all those whose lives she touched.
Please join her family on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 from 6pm – 8pm at Seaside Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at the Seaside Reid Chapel. Burial will follow to Seaside Memorial Park.
