Lydia Dovalina Hallmark

November 8, 1919 ~ October 6, 2017 (age 97) 97 Years Old
Lydia Dovalina Hallmark, 97, peacefully entered into eternal rest on October 6, 2017 at her home in Meadows Place, TX. She was born on November 8, 1919 in Laredo, TX to Jose Evaristo Dovalina and Adelaida Moreno Dovalina. She was the oldest daughter of seven children. She was a direct descendant of the founding families of Laredo, TX, Don Tomas Sanchez de la Barrera and Los Corralitos Ranch on her father’s side, and the prominent ranching family of El Rancho de Los Morenos in Roma, TX on her mother’s side. She married Millard Stephen Hallmark, a WWII soldier from Lovelady TX on January 28, 1946. They had five magnificent children, Stephen, Charles, Elizabeth, Claude, and Joe David. They settled in Corpus Christi in the 1950s and were long-time residents. They had a ranch outside of San Diego TX, where they loved to work the land on the weekends and sell cattle until her husband’s passing in 1983. Lydia worked for Cardinal’s and Leon’s, a high end fashion shoe and ready to wear boutique for over 35 years and had a great sense of high fashion and design. She retired at the age of 80. Lydia was a devout Catholic and a member of numerous non-denominational and Pentecostal prayer groups throughout South Texas. She had a great love for history, a great memory and could trace back up to 14 generations of her family’s history and would captivate her audience with her fascinating stories. She had a passion for gardening and was known for her beautiful bougainvilleas, crepe myrtles and magnificent roses. She will always be remembered for her great sense of humor, her love and gracious kindness to all those around her.
Lydia is preceded in death by her parents Jose and Adelaida Moreno, her brothers Joe, Roberto, Ben, Ismael, and Diego Dovalina, her husband Millard Stephen Hallmark, her sons Millard Stephen Hallmark JR, and Joe David Hallmark.
