Sam Allen Pennington, II passed away December 3, 2017 at his home in Corpus Christi, TX.
Sam was born February 23, 1927 in Port Lavaca, TX. to Sam and Lela (Blake) Pennington. He married Marie (Whitehead) Pennington on February 2, 1951.
After high school graduation Sam joined the U.S. Navy and served in the South Pacific during World War II. Following his honorable discharge Sam attended both Texas A&M and The University of Texas, graduating from the latter with a degree in architecture. Sam and Marie moved to Corpus Christi where Sam became a founding partner of the architectural firm Christian, Bright, and Pennington where he worked until retirement. Sam was active in a number of charities and organizations, serving in officer positions in both Rotary and the Salvation Army. Among his favorite activities were aviation, painting, photography, and travel.
Sam was preceded in death by his beloved wife Marie, his parents and his brother Newton Frank Pennington. He is survived by his four sons, Tod, Sam III, Brice and Keith, his daughters in law, Karen, Becky, Martha, and six grandchildren. He is loved by many and will be missed by all.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Seaside Funeral Home.
